From asking, “why you need Knowledge Management” to an award winning program in 4 years
In 2012 we embarked on a Knowledge Management project with Indiana CPA Society (INCPAS).
Back then INCPAS was after a KM portal, an IT solution to capture and share knowledge across the accounting profession in the state of Indiana. That didn’t happen. Well, not as they first thought.
Today, with multiple awards, including the CEO, Gary Bolinger, being recognised by Accounting Today as one of the top 100 most influential people in the US accounting profession (in his own words, “largely as a result of work being done on this project”), and the project Strategist, Jess Halverson-Bowyer, being recognised as a “rising star” in the world of professional societies, INCPAS has developed the CPA Centre of Excellence (CPA CoE).
CPA CoE is a holistic Knowledge Management and Learning Organisation solution that challenges traditional views of the concepts. Above all, it delivers impact (tangible changes to behaviour) and results that have been acknowledged by mainstream US accounting press.
“The word ‘game-changer’ gets thrown around more than the word ‘dynamic’ at a Grant Thornton strategy meeting, but this really is a game-changer.”
Take a look at this video to see where it all started. Then, visit the CPA CoE website to see where the project is now. I hope you’ll agree, it’s quite a journey!
